Have you noticed…….

How gorgeous the crepe myrtles are this year?  Must be all the rain…… all the trees are just loaded with blossoms and the colors seem to be more intense.

Speaking of rain, did you know that during periods of prolonged heavy rainfall such as now (August 15, 2016) your local Municipal Water District will increase the amount of Chlorine added to the water?  This is done as an insurance against possible harmful bacteria entering the water system.  Now this would not be a problem for pond owners because during periods of rain there is no need to top off your pond.  The rain is doing the job for you, obviously.  However, there are rare instances where it is necessary to add tap water to a pond (after a prolonged heavy rains). in these situations simply increase the amount of dechlorinating agent added to the pond.
