Hello Summer

The summer heat has officially hit us here on Gulf Coast and boy howdy it’s a shock to my system every year. I did lots of planting this spring and I’m sorta dreading having to water everything. I tried out some new things to help my plants retain water and so far it seems like it is working really well. I started by mixing expanded shale into the soil at the bottom of the holes for the new plants. Then put the plant in the hole making sure it was not too deep and filled in using half landscapers mix and half top soil. I ended with an inch of leaf mold compost on the top. So far I only have to water every other day which in the Texas heat is a win for me!
