Feeding Lilies

Water Lilies are “heavy feeders” meaning they perform best with a lot of fertilizer.  We recommend that you feed your lilies with Plantabbs twice a month during the hot months of June, July and August.  Plantabbs are designed specifically for water lilies and are designed to dissolve in 60 seconds.  We tested other types of fertilizer such as tree stakes and found them still undissolved in the pots, obviously not delivering the plant food as often as needed for a water lily.  If you have plantabbs that have turned to powder, don’t worry it is still an excellent fertilizer and can be sprinkled on the soil of your flower beds and potted plants.  You can also make a “lily bomb” wrapping a paper towel around the fertilizer and poking it into the soil.
