In one month Karie and I are going to meet Ree Drummond aka The Pioneer Woman at a book signing in Houston!!!!!!!!! I swear when I saw she was going to be in town and there where literally two tickets left to meet her and I snagged them for Karie and myself I finally understood how other people feel when they get to meet a celebrity.(I am super aware that is a run-on sentence but who cares I’m excited!) It’s this silly giddy feeling that I can only describe as the way it feels when you drink champagne and the tiny bubbles feel like they are in your blood steam. Needless to say I’m super excited and I have met Chuck Norris: the man, the myth, the legend…. but he doesn’t cook wonderful delicious meals…or maybe he does but I don’t own all of his cookbooks like I have all of The Pioneer Woman’s.
Oh yeah, funny part of the story is that I have experienced what it is like on the “celebrity” side of things. Two years ago the whole Nelson clan crammed into an Explorer and drove to New Orleans to surprised my sister Anne. The whole family was walking down the street to dinner when we heard “Oh my goodness that’s the Nelson Family!” A customer recognized us outside of our trademark turquoise blue shirts and out of our natural habitat of Nelson Water Gardens. Boy did we feel super special!
