Immediately after Hurricane Harvey, I noticed the Hummingbirds were already out and about. Where they weathered the storm is a mystery to me! But they survived and I’m grateful.
As you know Hummers migrate through our area from August to October and we are an important stopping off point before they make the arduous journey over the Gulf of Mexico.
Because of Harvey, hundreds of miles of Texas coastline was either flattened or underwater, thus destroying the natural nectar sources. Please put out extra hummingbird feeders. And remember a garden with lot’s of flowers will always attract lot’s of hummers and butterflies!
Recipe is 1 part sugar to 4 parts water, boil water to dissolve sugar, cool before adding to feeders, no red food coloring needed.
