Keeping things green

I love green and I miss it during the winter months.  Coming from the North, I really appreciate how many plants continue to grow and thrive here along the Gulf Coast.  Here are a few Bog plants you can grow in or out of your water garden that will remain green.  They will all survive the common light freezes we experience here.  Louisiana Iris and Water Celery are particularly tough.  I’ve only seen Louisiana Iris freeze one in the 36 years I’ve lived here, that was during the winter of 1983 when we had a week of temperature in the teens!  Even so, Louisiana Iris popped right back up when the weather turned warm.  Both of these plants will grow in or out of the water garden.evergreen bog 001evergreen bog 004 evergreen bog 006
