Sometimes a shady garden can be too dark and opressive, even on the sunniest days. Here along the Gulf Coast, trees such as Live Oaks can cast shade so dense, vampires feel comfortable. Ok, not that bad but still. You can brighten a dark shady area by using white variegated plants or shade loving plants with white flowers
