Many years ago my mother had a clever idea….why not put the fresh cut Christmas Tree in the kettle garden to absorb water? No need to find a bucket big enough for the tree, no need to set it up and fill it with water….win-win solution right? Nope……that night a cold front swept down from the North and froze the tree solid into the kettle. I got a frantic call from her and we decided short of a blow torch there was no way we could get the tree out of the kettle. Yep this is what her Christmas tree looked like that year.
